:new: Update 2011

We are currently seeking almost a whole new team of contributors to help out with this group. The more hands, the lighter the work, and previous volunteers will tell you that this isn't high demand, but we do like regular, active people who can help in the backroom and make this workshop truly a great group. Please consider applying

Applications for Contributors

Without a strong team behind the workshop, we cannot keep producing a decent workshop cycle after cycle. Although we have a core staff team, we also have contributor positions to support us.

A contributor is someone who is willing to dedicate time to the group. We ask people to commit- not just apply because you want to further yourself in deviantArt. The main duties of a contributor are:

1) To participate in workshops, producing a relatively high quality example of what the workshop entails. We do not expect you to participate in every single one.

2) To offer critique on a number of the pieces of each workshop. Again, it doesn't have to be every single workshop.

3) To help us promote, keep the enthusiasm, and encourage throughout the workshop.

4) To share opinion and ideas in our back room discussions.

We are seeking people who have been members of the workshop for a significant amount of time, who understand the nature of the workshop process. You also need to be an active member of the literature community and have a majority of literature in your gallery. This doesn't mean you have to be a member of 18 other groups, it just means you have a strong interest in the literature community of deviantART.

How to Apply

If you would like to be considered as a contributor, please send us a note via the ‘contact us’ button with the following information:

:bulletgreen: An explanation as to why you would like to be a contributor
:bulletgreen: Information about you, your writing.
:bulletgreen: A list of any other groups, clubs and projects you are involved with, including any personal community work (I.e. if you produce a weekly news article etc)
:bulletgreen: Two examples of your critique (links will do)

Please Note

Although we are not limiting how many contributors we want, we are not going to accept everyone who applies. Please do not be disheartened if we decide not to accept your application at this time.

If you are accepted as a contributor, you will receive an invite to join the group in this position.

I like the group and all, but my interests, like all interests to all humans, waxes and wanes. I'm not gonna commit if I'm just gonna 'skip class' and be a lazy ho. So no teachers pet job for me. But I'll continue my wishy-washy unpredictable support in my own way. /THUMBSUP

I would. I really would. But I have zero deviations up; I'm too self-conscious about my writing and my art is horrid.

One of the things I love about workshopping is that you don't have to be brilliant, you just have to be willing to try. :) You don't have to be a contributor - why not give one of the workshops a bash and see how it goes?

I've followed along with the workshops and occasionally written down ideas, but I always put it off before a deadline and upon reading entries realize that I was doing it totally wrong ^^; But maybe I will give it a try sometime.

Sorry. Too many other groups I'm admin-ing to fully commit to this.

I haven't done a workshop here in a while (real life issues and my own works come first), but I remember there used to be a lot of member participation in terms of critique. Has it dropped that much? Maybe resort to the crit for a crit plan? To participate you must offer up at least one crit. Just a thought...

ah, evidently a shorter time ago than it seems O.O

Ah well, I'll hang around nonetheless. Maybe throw in an idea for a workshop in January.

A new member might have more drive and stamina to give to critiqueing then someone who's been here a while. I think the judgement should be based soley on critique, with atleast five examples of that person's critiqueing ability.

How long is 'a significant amount of time', roughly? I realise that it's not going to be hard and fast, but there's quite a lot of potential variation in 'significant'. (One workshop, one year...?)

Well personally I see at the moment contributors being older members, those who were here post group status and have been involved with the workshop for at least 4-6 months. However as time goes on, we will be happy to look at people who joined the group post september time too.

What about people who don't necessarily find the time to write something but are diligent about critique, and vice versa? I think it sounds nice in theory to limit membership based on participation levels, but there's too much fluctuation to keep up a rating beyond some sort of wall of mention for people who already have a great track record.

I have only been a part of this group for a few weeks. I amstill developing my gallery and learning and watching many groups. I am active on my page, but not so much with groups.

I am still new to submitting works and I don't like to "blow my own whistle" so when it comes to writing, I am hesitant to submit my works.

As for critique's, I just did my first one last night and it seemed accepted even if it was a little harsh. I didn't write it to be mean, but more to educate.

I would not offer to be a contributor because I am still learning the in's and out's of the group, but I would hate to be cut because one feels that I am not active enough.

I think that if the staff wanted, they could watch their members and problem see who was best fit from their actions.

This site's all about development, honestly the only things I submit here are works in progress. Not that I label them as such, but that's how I see them.

With 800+ members, that would probably not work at all :O
